Through step by step instruction and constant visual and verbal demonstration by Chris Babcock, the girls will learn how to draw what they see using the right brain drawing method and basic painting techniques like how to hold a paint brush to produce different line qualities and variety of textures.
Each student will produce three 15 by 20 inch paintings using professional grade acrylics on museum quality archival paper:
1) A realistic self-portrait exploring how to draw what shapes really look like and how to shade and highlight to further define each shape.

Painting: Students learn how to develop basic painting skills and brush techniques through understanding the way to hold an put pressure on a brush to make a variety of line qualities, mixing various hues of acrylic and oil paints and applying them to create highlighting and shading.
How the choosing of the 3 paintings works:All students will email Chris Babcock the three images of their choosing three days prior to the first day of class.Send to email@example.com
What if your child does not know what he or she wants to paint? Please email Chris and she will email some images for your child to choose from.
What if your child chooses something very complex like the Mona Lisa? All works of art are studied so that your child can develop his or her own painting skills and personal style. Every work of art has something to teach us, so any artwork, no matter how complex, will help develop your child’s artistic skills. It is not the goal of the student to reproduce the painting exactly in the same way, but to use the image as a jumping off point to further develop their technical and creative skills.
