FIVE BASIC SKILLS OF DRAWING WORKSHOP

(ages 6 to 11 years)

Through step by step visual demonstration and verbal explanation of how to draw using the right brain, Chris teaches her students the five basic skills of drawing:

  1. Seeing the contour lines of the subject
  2. Seeing spaces between the lines of the subject
  3. Seeing the relationship between spaces and lines
  4. Seeing lights and shadows
  5. Seeing the whole of the subject
Students will draw Blobs Grow in Beloved Gardens by F. Hundertwasser, Girl with Puppet by Fernando Botero, and Donald Duck by Walt Disney using 5B and HB pencils, and Prismacolor pencils and oil pastels.

Step by step instruction on how to interpret “Turquoise Marilyn” by Andy Warhol (worth 86 million dollars) and “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer 1” by Gustav Klimt (worth 150 million dollars) using water soluble non-toxic oils on 18 by 18 inch art boards. These two paintings are in the top ten most valuable paintings in the world. Students will not only learn how to draw and paint these precious works of art, but will also discuss what makes these particular painting so valuable.
